'Why in the world do you walk sideways like that?' said a Mother Crab to her son.
「你為什麼總是橫著走呢？」 螃蟹媽媽對自己的兒子說，
'You should always walk straight forward with your toes turned out.'
「你應該腳尖朝前，筆直地往前走。」
'Show me how to walk, mother dear,' answered the little Crab obediently, 'I want to learn.'
「親愛的媽媽，請您示範一下怎麼走吧。」小螃蟹乖乖地說，「我會照著樣子學的。」
So the old Crab tried and tried to walk straight forward.
於是，螃蟹媽媽努力地想直著走，嘗試了一次又一次。
But she could walk sideways only, like her son.
可是，和自己的兒子一樣，她也只會橫著走。
And when she wanted to turn her toes out she tripped and fell on her nose.
當螃蟹媽媽想讓腳尖朝前的時候，反倒被絆倒了，摔了個鼻子貼地。
故事告訴我們：
Do not tell others how to act unless you can set a good example.
除非你自己為他人樹立一個好榜樣，否則不要對別人的行為指指點點。
