Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their first official appearance together, just a few days after the couple announced their engagement and plans to marry next May.

The prince and his fiancée are attending two separate engagements in Nottingham to raise awareness of both HIV/AIDS and youth crime, Kensington Palace shared in a statement prior to the visit.

The palace added that the prince was looking forward to introducing his future wife to a community that has "become very special to him".

The newly-engaged pair will make their first appearance at the Nottingham Contemporary art centre which is hosting a Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair. There they will meet with representatives from charities who each support local communities in the city and carry out work to tackle HIV/AIDS.

The children are expected to put on a performance for the couple before they leave.

Jason Knauf, the prince’s spokesperson, said the couple were "leading the planning process for all aspects of the wedding".
