American flier wins wingsuit contest final held in China
American flier Noah Bahnson won the final of 2015 World Wingsuit League (WWL) China Grand Prix held in central China's Hunan Province on Sunday, beating the pre-final favorite South African flier with a tiny edge of 0.102 second.
Eight candidates participated the final in two-pilot races jumping from a platform 1,400-meters above sea level and gliding along a 1.7-kilometer course in Tianmen Mountains in Zhangjiajie City of Hunan Province.
Julian Boulle, a South African flier and winner of last year's event, got the second place while the Australian flier Nathan Jones who participated the event for the first time, finished third.
The 2015 WWL China Grand Prix, which kicked off on Oct. 16, is currently in its fourth year at Tianmen Mountain.
Wingsuit flying, one of the world's most dangerous extreme sports, involves pilots gliding like bats using special clothing called the wingsuit.
