Wingsuit fliers contest 2015 WWL China Grand Prix
Wingsuit fliers took part in breathtaking two-pilot races on Saturday in the 2015 World Wingsuit League (WWL) China Grand Prix in central China's Hunan Province.
A total of 16 pilots from 12 nations jumped from a platform 1,400-meters above sea level in Tianmen Mountains, Zhangjiajie, then glided along a 1.7-kilometer course while descending over 1,000 meters.
The four fastest fliers, who will now contest the competition's final on Sunday, were Noah Bahnson (U.S.A.), Jarno Cordia (Netherlands), Nathan Jones (Australia) and Julian Boulle (South Africa).
Wingsuit flying, one of the world's most dangerous extreme sports, involves pilots gliding like bats using special clothing called a wingsuit.
The WWL China Grand Prix, which kicked off on Friday, is currently in its fourth year at Tianmen Mountain. Julian Boulle won last year's event.
