S:老師,主系表結構中,系動詞的單複數取決於表語嗎?比如:
what I need___(be)time and money.
T:what引導的主語從句, 謂語動詞一般用單數形式;
(但是,最討厭的事情發生了,此處存在「如果」。)
如果從句後的表語是複數形式,或從句本身表示複數意義,則謂語動詞宜用複數形式。
原理很簡單:
A is B, 也可以說成B is A。
即:Time and money are what I need.
S: 所以說,系動詞的單複數受表語名詞的影響了。即:
What I need are time and money.
T: 類似情況,再比如:
When to hold the meeting and where to hold itare two things.
When and where to hold the meeting hasn’t been decided.
What you saidis right.
結論:
由and連接的不定式短語、動名詞短語或從句作主語時,其謂語動詞主要根據句子的單複數概念決定用單數還是複數。
S: 老師,另外一個問題:
all作主語,謂語動詞的單複數也根據句意來定?
T:代詞all, some, more, such等單獨作主語時,根據其「指代意義」決定謂語動詞的單複數。
比如:All goes well.一切進展順利。
All are present. 所有人都到了。
Such is his answer.或
Such are his answers.
S:明白了!「意義一致」原則。
S: 還有,這個句子填is還是are?
We each ____(be) tired.
T: 此處each作主語we的同位語,主謂一致中,謂語動詞不受其同位語的影響。
即:We each are tired.
但是若主語為each, 則謂語動詞用單數。
即:Each of us is tired.
S: 明白!不定代詞做主語,謂語動詞用單數。
T: 主謂一致中,還有一種現象值得強調,即:單複數同形的名詞作主語時,謂語動詞的數取決於其前面的限定詞。
單複數同形的名詞, 比如:
means 方法;goods 商品、貨物;
series系列; species 品種
All possible means have been tried.
A means of readinghas been found.
A series of plansis made by him.
The twoTV series are very popular.
