說到wall，小夥伴們都知道是「牆」的意思，我們常常學到的就是on the wall，表示在牆上，比如the clock is on the wall（這個鐘在牆上）；或者in the wall，表示在牆裡，比如a hole is in the wall（牆裡有個洞）。
那如果是其他搭配呢？比如go to the wall啥意思？或者hit the wall又是啥？我們來看看。
1）Go to the wall
Go to the wall詞組裡每個單詞都很簡單，不過，如果你朋友說「I go to the wall」可不是「我走到牆上去了」啊！
看看英文解釋：To fail or go bankrupt because of lack of money，也就是失敗了或破產了，因為缺乏資金。
因此，go to the wall指的是（因缺少資金）走投無路，生意失敗破產，陷於絕境。
所以朋友這麼說，相當於是他沒錢了，你得小心自己的錢袋子了，哈哈！

2）Hit the wall
Hit the wall字面意思看似是「撞到牆了」（畢竟hit有撞擊的意思），如果你不小心腦瓜子碰到牆了，確實可以這麼說。不過，我們還要多注意它的引申含義。
Hit the wall means completely exhausted or fatigued；Or suddenly stop making progress.
也就是說，hit the wall可以指完完全全精疲力竭，沒力氣了；也可以是指停止進步。（可以想像你想繼續前進的時候，前面撞到了一堵牆，還是個死胡同）

Off the wall從字面看好像是「掉到了牆下」（畢竟off常常有掉下來的意思），但其實，it means unusual，strange or a little crazy，有點奇怪的，不同尋常的或者有點瘋狂的。
因此，off the wall常指古怪的，有點兒出格的意思。
