Motor Vehicles and Trailers – Lateral and Rear Underrun Protection Requirements
1 SCOPE
This standard specifies the technical requirements for the lateral and rear underrun protection devices of motor vehicles and trailers, and the technical requirements for such vehicles.
This standard applies to the vehicles of categories N2, N3, O3 and O4.
This standard doesn’t apply to semi-trailer towing vehicles, or the vehicles designed and constructed for special purposes where it is not possible, for practical reasons, to fit such lateral and rear underrun protection devices. The rear underrun protection requirements don’t apply to the vehicles specially designed and constructed for the carriage of very long loads of indivisible length, such as the vehicles for transportation of timber or other goods;

3 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions and those given in GB/T 3730.2 and GB/T 15089 apply.
3.1
未受保護的道路使用者unprotected road users
在使用道路時可能跌入車輛側面而被捲入車輪下的行人、騎自行車或騎摩託車的人。
3.2
側面防護裝置lateral protection device
由縱向部件和連接結構件組成，並且固定在底盤的側面部件上或車輛其他結構件上的裝置，用於避免未受保護的道路使用者跌入車輛側面而被捲入車輪下； 車輛的某些部分可以被用作側面防護裝置。
3.3
後下部防護裝置rear underrun protection device
由橫向構件和連接結構件組成， 並且固定：在底盤部件上或車輛其他結構件上的裝置。
3.4
後下部防護rear underrun protection
後下部防護指專門的後下部防護裝置或者依靠自身的外形與特性能夠具有全部或部分後下部防護裝置功能的車輛的車體、車架部件或其他部件。
4 側面防護裝置的技術要求
4.1 側面防護裝置應按照附錄A 中A.l 所規定的試驗條件進行測量。側面防護裝置的外表麗應光滑，並儘可能前後連續；相鄰部件允許搭接，但搭接的外露邊緣應向後或向下；相鄰部件應沿縱向留出不大於25 mm 的間隙，但後都不能超出前部的外側。螺栓和鉚釘的圓頭允許凸出外表面不大於10 mm ，其他零件只要其光滑並有類似的圓頭結構，也可凸出外表面不大於1 0 mm 。由直徑100 mm 的球體接觸到的外露的稜邊和稜角應倒圓，其固｜角半徑應不小於2.5 mm ；凸出小於5 rnrn 的部件，其朝外表面邊緣應鈍化。
