多數太極拳老師在論述太極拳時,談及太極拳圓的道理較多。涉及太極拳伸展的要領較少。容易使練太極拳的人陷入了圓的誤區,陷入圓的誤區人在練太極拳過程中,只重視了圓,而忽視伸展,動作還沒伸展到位就拐彎了。在生活中,我發現了很多類似這樣陷入圓的誤區練習太極拳的人,他們自以為是,還沒有辦法給他們講清楚。武術界有一句話叫做,「練拳者千千萬,成手者一至二人」。有些人練一輩子拳沒練成手,問題出在哪裡也不清楚。原因是很多的,比如三天打魚兩天曬網,或蒙著頭只管苦練,不求甚解,或者套路剛學完,又沒有經過老師整架、定型,就離開老師,甚至自己就去開館授徒了。或者拜的老師對太極拳並不是甚懂,只是會一部分套路而已,等等。陳照奎老師說過「苦練不死練,巧練不取巧。」「明規矩而守規矩,脫規矩而合規矩。」陳鑫也說過「理不明延名師,道不清訪良友。」要想練的一身好功夫,既要拜名師,還得持之以恆,不斷的經過名師糾正,使每個動作都符合太極拳的要領,不但用體而且還要用心去揣摩每招每勢。
The importance of stretching in Chen Taiji Quan
Most Taiji Masters talk about circle principle a lot but not referring to the essentials of stretching when discusses Taiji Quan.This will lead people who are practicing Taiji Quan to an incorrect circle area.people,who are in the misleading circle area,neglecting the stretch while paying attention to circles,they don’t stretching enough then making a circle too early to complete the movement.We have discovered many people who are practicing Taiji with such misconception.In martial art,we say:「many people practice,but only a few will succeed」. Some people never success even practice lifetime,the thing is that they don’t know where is the problem.There are many reasons, such as lack of perseverance,or just practice physically without understanding the theory,or just finished the solo form without teacher correction of the movements,go out to teach others,or learn from some Taiji teacher who doesn’t fully understand the principle of Taiji.
Grand Master Chen ZhaoKui once said:「practice skillful but don’t do tricks.」Understand rules and follow them,be flexible of according rules.」Chen ZhaoKui also said:「if you don’t understand the knowledge visit masters,if you are unclear about the path visit good friend.」If you want to have good Kong Fu,not only visiting master,but also be perseverance.Have the master to correct your movement,make every movement in accordance with guidelines of Taiji Quan.Not only practice physically,but also practice mentally with every movement by heart.
所以我在授課時,特別強調我的學生們,在練習每一個動作時一定要先求開展,後求緊湊。像學畫畫一樣,先學素描,畫直線、橫線、然後再畫圖,只有伸展韌帶才能拉開,動作才能做標準到位。人身體的四大關節,腕關節、肘關節、肩關節、胯關節,只有經常伸展,韌帶才能放長。各種高難度動作才能做標準。肩和胯關節部位非常重要,這兩個部位的關節放長,關係著功夫的增長程度,關係著身體上部的放鬆,只有肩關節韌帶放長,並且能放鬆,丹田氣才能運動到稍節。胯關節的韌帶放長,才能化解對方來勁,路線短、速度快,才能打人不見形為妙。
Therefore when I teach my students,I always emphasize extending movements before compact the body.Just like when you learn how to draw,you need to learn sketch,draw lines then circles.Only when you stretch ligaments,then you will be able to reach the standard of movement.There are four major joints in human body;wrist,elbow,shoulder and hip,only if you stretch them regularly,then the ligaments will be able to be extended.Therefore,you will be able to complete all sort of difficult moves.Shoulder and hip are very important,these two joints relate to the improvement of your Martial art skills,as well as the relaxation of your upper body.Only if you extend the ligament of shoulders, relax shoulders,the energy of Dan Tian will move to the end of your body.When extend hips,relax hips,you will quickly resolve the attack from the opponent,be able to achieve the ultimate goal of attacking without noticeable.
要使練太極拳的人從誤區中走出去,就要知道太極拳圓的真正含義,「圓」實質是指內氣在體內的循環路線,周而復始的圓,不是指外形的圓。練習太極拳時外形一定要伸展到位,外形如果不伸展到位韌帶就拉不開,肢體就不夠放長,身體的彈性也難練出來。陳鑫說的「撃著何處,何處撃,」就是靠身體的收縮所產生的彈性,利用對方打來的直勁將對方反彈出去。肢體放長了,身體上的僵勁化掉了,身體的彈性才能練出來。如果肢體不夠放長,運動時中氣容易停止在胸部,會產生橫氣填胸,更會出現丟勁和扁勁,同時也失去了掤勁,也不容易達到放鬆,氣沉丹田就成為一句空話。肢體不夠放長,在擒拿對方時,勁路短,不能拿到極限,擒拿作用力就不大。對方在擒拿自己時,因勁路段,化解不利,容易受制於人。肢體不夠放長,在打擊對方時,難以將丹田氣運到梢節,身體的反彈力不容易發揮到最大限度,不能以身體的伸縮反彈,以氣催形,增加強大的爆發力。如果身體沒有伸縮和反彈,打的了往往是外力,身體像棍子似的,僵硬呆板,不夠靈活,對方向自己打來的力,因身體不夠放長,而導致化解路線遠,靠轉換步法,有時就會時間來不及,而被對方打倒。通過練習韌帶伸展放長,身體的彈性就能隨著功夫增長而加大,這樣再配合熟練的身法、步法和巧妙的技法,在防身自衛時,就能無堅不摧,發人於不知不覺之中。表演時動作就會優美大方。會像休士頓記事報形容我表演太極拳的那樣,讚美我練太極拳猶如是一首流動的詩,立體的畫,充滿哲理宛如在人們面前展現另一個宇宙觀。使人心曠神怡,給人一種美的享受。
For people practicing Taiji come out of misunderstanding area,they need to understand the real meaning of circle in Taiji.「circle」is the internal energy cycle route inside body;it’s not an appearance of outside circle.You need to extend movements all the way while practicing Taiji otherwise,ligaments won’t stretch,limbs are not extend long enough,then it’s very hard to get the flexibility of your body.Chen Xi said:「where to strike,it strikes back.」This is the elastic energy coming from the compression and expansion of body,to strike back the straight impact from the opponent.By extending the body,it will neutralize the stiffness,in order to gain flexibility of the body.If you don’t extend your body,the inner energy easily stuck in your chest area,will cause loosing or shifting energy,as well as loosing peng(ward-off)energy,the whole body can’t relaxing,energy store in Dan Tian will be useless.If your body can’t fully extend,during sparring,the outspread of power is limited;you can’t catch the opponent at your longest range.When your opponent attacks you,because of limited power,he can’t resolve your power,then,he is easily controlled by you.
Without fully extending your body,when striking the opponent,it’s very hard to transfer Dan Tian energy to limbs,the power of body won’t exert to the biggest extend,through body’s extension and compression moves forming a powerful explosive strength.Without an inner body’s extension and compression energy,the strength is just an external force,like a stick,stiff with no flexibility.When facing opponent’s strike,because body can’t be fully extended,lead to a long path to neutralize opponent’s power,have to rely on changing footwork,sometime it’s not enough time,you knocked down by the opponent already.By stretching ligaments exercises,will increase the flexibility of body,combine with skillful body movements,foot works and ingenious techniques,you will conquer it all,and strike opponent without his awareness.It will show graceful movements during performing.It will be just like how Houston newspaper described my performant of Taiji,they spoke highly of my Taiji movements just as a flowing poem,a three-dimensional painting,full of philosophic concepts that just as if unfolding another cosmology in front of your eyes.It gives you a refreshing and happy feeling while you enjoying the beauty of it.
