要想用《新概念英語》第三冊通過「英語閱讀」訓練和提高英語，我們首先就要界定清楚：什麼是「英語閱讀」？

我們對「英語閱讀」的界定是：網際網路+時代，英語閱讀的目的是為了給你一次「說」英語、「用」英語的機會和能力鍛鍊，而不是為了讓你把課文「準確」翻譯成中文，也就是「英譯漢」式「英語閱讀」，是「英譯英」式「英語閱讀」。把握住這個「英語閱讀」目標，其它任何「在理」的閱讀理由都可以徹底放棄。

「用」英語、「說」英語的機會和能力鍛鍊，「英語閱讀」唯一關注的目標。

一、課文

When reports came into London Zoo that a wild puma had been spotted forty-five miles south of London, they were not taken seriously. However, as the evidence began to accumulate, experts from the Zoo felt obliged to investigate

二、邊「讀」英語，邊把學過的英語「用起來」的英語閱讀

1) When reports came into London Zoo,that means When people or witnesses told London Zooo,or When people or witnesses reported it to London Zoo,or informed London Zoo.

我們的英語「閱讀」是否能讓我們「讀出」，或「想到」這樣的英語？

或者只是把英語課文翻譯成中文就算「英語閱讀」了？

2) that a wild puma had been spotted forty-five miles south of London,

1.If you spot something somewhete you see,or notice something somewhere.

2.So,a wild puma had been spotted means People noticed,or saw a puma.

這種「讀」英語，「說」英語的閱讀才是「英語閱讀」培養的目標和能力，而不是「精準」翻譯成中文「理解」的能力，除非我們正在做的是與「英語閱讀」無關的英語學習。

3) they were not taken seriously

1.If you do not take something or someone seriously,you do not pay attention yo them,you pay little or no attention to them.

2.So,we can say They do not take my words seriously,we can also say They turn a deaf ear to,or do not pay any attention to what I said.

「英語閱讀」就是要讓我們學過的英語融會貫通，而不是「老死不相往來」。

4) However, as the evidence began to accumulate, experts from the Zoo felt obliged to investigate

1.However means But,means Nevertherless

2. as the evidence began to accumulate means when more and more reports came into London Zoo.To accumulate something means To get something more.

3.An evidence is SOMETHING used as a proof.

A witness is a PERSON used as a proof.

結論：在英語學習階段，「英語閱讀」不是訓練你「用」英語「讀懂」的，是訓練你能不能把學過的英語「用起來」讀懂英語。

做不到這點，英譯漢式「英語閱讀」都無濟於事，都是「啞巴英語」的根源。
