小夥伴們都知道cold是「寒冷」或「感冒」，比如I have a cold，表示我感冒了。
之前我們也分享過a cold fish可以表示那些態度冷冰冰的人；或者pour cold water，就是表示「潑冷水」。
本期我們再來分享幾個和cold有關的詞組，並且還有小小的猜謎遊戲哦！
1）Out cold
Out cold從字面看像是「外面冷」，但說到「Out cold」可不是「外面很冷」啊！那到底啥意思？（外面很冷可以說It is cold outside）。
看看英文解釋：Unconscious or in a deep sleep，like a boxer who has been knocked out，就是沒有意識或睡得昏昏沉沉的，像一個被KO的拳擊手。（KO就是knockout）
因此，out cold可以指昏昏沉沉的，昏迷的意思。
看一下英文場景學習如何使用。
① I was so tired that I was out cold as soon as my head hit the pillow last night.
昨晚上我太累了，以致於我腦袋一沾上枕頭，我就昏睡過去了。
* Hit the pillow，表示睡覺就寢的意思，也可以說hit the sack或hit the hay。
② I fell and hit my head，I felt that I was out cold for about a minute.
我摔倒撞到了頭，我感覺自己昏迷了大概一分鐘。
2）Out in the cold
Out in the cold貌似是「寒冷的天氣裡待在外面」，確實可以這麼理解，比如說，Open the door! Let me in! Don't leave me out in the cold!（快開門，讓我進去，別把我留在冰天雪地裡啊！）
但是這個詞組中的cold還可以指「冷淡的，冷漠的」之類的意思。
因此，out in the cold常常指遭受冷落或被忽視的意思。
比如下面的英語例句。
① I felt a bit out in the cold at Adam’s party last night.
我感覺昨晚在亞當的派對裡遭受了冷落。
② You have to make sure you stand out in the company，or you may be left in the cold when there is opportunity for advancement.
你得確保你在公司裡表現突出，否則的話，當出現晉升機會時，你會被忽視的。
3）Go hot and cold
Go hot and cold乍一看還以為是「遭受了水深火熱」呢，畢竟hot and cold是又熱又冷啊！
其實，go hot and cold常常指突然感到害怕或焦慮不安，尤其是你想到某段特別的記憶時。（是有點水深火熱的意味喲）。
英語例句：
① I went hot and cold all over when I remembered how that dog lunged at me.
我感到整個人害怕又緊張不安，當我想起那條狗猛撲向我的時候。
* lunge at，表示猛衝；猛撲。
② I go hot and cold when I think of that car accident. It was so terrible.
我突然感到很不安，當我想到那個車禍的時候，真的是太慘烈了。
