在初級中學的時候，就會並區分 wear 和 put on 的用法：wear 表示「穿著、戴著」這一狀態，put on強調「穿、戴」這個動作過程。這樣說太深奧，不如這樣更通俗：wear 指的是穿著，穿在身上；put on 表示「開始沒有穿，動手給穿上」，也可以是戴上 哦~~，比如說：
What do you like to wear? 你想穿啥衣服？
She is wearing a blue dress. 她穿著藍色的連衣裙。
Would please put on your hat，sir？您能戴上帽子嗎，先生？
He could put his coat on when he was 6. 他六歲就會穿外套了。
好了，除了這兩個「穿戴」之外，英語中還有很多表示方法：have…on、be in、try on、dress 等：
have on主要表示狀態： Today she has an overcoat on. 今天她穿著一件大衣。相當於：She is wearing an over coat. be in 後面可以是顏色也可以是衣服，也是表示一個狀況的短語：The woman in black is a spy. 那個身穿黑衣的女人是個間諜。
3.【重要】 dress +人，表示「給…人穿衣」，注意這個詞！因為 dress 的對象是「人」，故而常用被動語態如：be dressed in, 看例句 ：
She is dressed in a nice suit. 她穿夜深漂亮的西裝。
主動的句子：
Dad is dressing Shuangzhu now. 爹正在給拴住穿衣服。
dress 與 wear 和 put on 的區別也很重要：wear 或 put on 後面 跟衣物，而 dress 跟人：表示自己穿衣要這要這樣表達：
I get dressed.= I dress myself.
另外，dress up意為「穿上盛裝、喬裝打扮」。
Do I have to dress up for the party? 我必須化妝參加晚會嗎？
