今天看到一個很有意思的問題，有人問「lose one's heart」是什麼意思，還給了兩個選項，分別是「喪失信心」和「十分喜愛」，大白先不說，你覺得呢？

我們看起英文釋義：If you lose your heart to someone, you fall in love with them. Note: The heart is traditionally regarded as the centre of the emotions.
大致意思是說，你為了某人丟了心，說明你愛上他了，所以lose one's heart表示「痴心於、傾心於、十分喜愛...」等等，通常後面和to搭配。
She falls in love with Raul, who in turn has lost his heart to Silvia.
她愛上了勞爾，而勞爾又傾心於西爾維婭。
Many girls lose their hearts to Beckham.

通常我們用lose heart表示「喪失信心，失去信心」，看起英文釋義：To feel demoralized or pessimistic about something; to lose hope.即對某事感到沮喪或悲觀;失去希望。

（1）have cold feet
英文釋義：To experience nervousness or anxiety before one attempts to do something, often to the extent that one tries to avoid it.
在某人試圖做某事之前經歷緊張或焦慮，通常指試圖避免某事。簡言之就是某人做事之前沒有信心和勇氣，喜歡打退堂鼓。
打退堂鼓的人喜歡臨陣退縮，這個用cold feet來描述很貼切不是，所以不要將have cold feet理解成老寒腳了哈，這裡的have還可以替換成get。
He was going to ask her but he got cold feet and said nothing.
他本來是想向她提出邀請的，可事到臨頭他卻膽怯得什麼也沒有說。
He seems to have cold feet.
他似乎膽子很小。
(2)despair of
英文釋義：To view a situation as hopeless.就是對某事不抱有希望，失去信心。
這個是我們學習中常用的一個表達，despair的意思就是「絕望，喪失信心」的意思，所以很好記。
例句：
He wished to earn a living through writing but despaired of doing so.
他原想通過寫作謀生，但卻對此絕望了。
（3）get the cheese
cheese的本意是「奶酪」，但其形容的可用來形容膽小的，所以get the cheese不是指得到了一份奶酪，而是指某件事情讓你膽小，害怕了，失望了，也就是說遇到麻煩了，我們中國人會用「碰釘子」來表示此意。
You would get the cheese if you know the truth.
如果你知道真相，你會很失望的。
He didn't expect to get the cheese in that company.
他沒想到在那個公司會碰釘子。
