Breakfast is the most important meal of the day but it’s so tasty we』d rather have it all day long. Hatchery’s latest Bird on a Wire brunch is available all day, all weekend long. The guys that brought us the tasty free range eggs at the COOP brunch, the amazing burgers that are anything but common, and BYO Bloody Mary’s now brings the most casual and tasty brunch we』ve had in a (long) while a Sunday Roast as the highlighted item on the menu.
Available as a whole (¥328) or half (¥175) the tender juicy chicken served with a whole cutting board of roasted potatoes, stuffing, bread sauce, cabbage, and gravy. We opted for half a chicken and we honestly couldn’t finish it between two people. There’s just too much goodness for two to handle. Plus, Hatchery’s Bird on a Wire brunch isn’t just for chicken. They』ve got a great selection of veggie and eggy à la carte items to choose from. Free range eggs on toast (¥50), buttermilk breakfast (¥85) with juicy fried chicken thighs, maple syrup, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, 12-hour baked beans, and spinach. All of this is big, filling, and oh so yummy for the table to share.
Their drink options got a bit (super) boozy too. With four new spritz on the menu (¥50) you can either go with the classic Aperol or opt for one of the fancier ones with elderflower, rose, or pineapple as your base. For cocktails, well you』ve heard of Bloody Mary. Meet her sister, Bloody Wendy (¥50) who packs an even stronger spicy punch and is as delicious of a boozy brunch companion as her sister. Or if you’re serious about brunch drinking (as you should be) you can opt for a boozy free-flow (¥158) that includes cava, mimosa, Kirin, house wine, coffee, and soft drinks.
Our favorite drink on their menu so far is the jumbo watermelon margarita (¥120). For those who love to snap-before-they-snack the margarita is Hatchery’s (#hatcheryasia) ultimate Instadrinkpic. The hollowed out half watermelon is filled to the brim with fresh watermelon juice, fresh cucumber juice, triple sec, agave syrup, and of course, a whole buttload of tequila. Share one of these bad boys amongst your brunch party and everyone is sure to be swaying out of there later. The Rooftop at Hatchery opens this coming weekend (open from 2-9pm Saturday and Sunday), with an accompanying Spritz Bar and picnic area where you can grab a takeaway meal from downstairs and enjoy the epic hutong views.
