Farm Animals
Do you know any of the following animals? These are farm animals. We have cows , chickens, sheep, horses and pigs.
Cows
Cows eat grass. A group of cows is called a heard. The milk we drink comes from cows. We get the milk from the cow’s udders.
Fun fact:
Did you know? One cow can produce enough milk in a day to fill 400 glasses. We also get our cheese and yoghurt from the cows’milk.
Chickens
A mommy chicken is called a hen. A daddy chicken is called a rooster. Baby chickens are called chicks. Hens (mommy chickens) lay eggs. Chicks (baby chickens) hatch from eggs.

Did you know? Chickens are birds, they have feathers.
Sheep
Sheep grow lots of hair called wool. People shave sheep when their wool is too long and use the wool to make sweaters.

Did you know? Shaving sheep is called shearing.
Horse
Horses can run really fast. Horses give people rides.
Fun fact:
Did you know? Horses can sleep standing up. Horses love to eat crunchy apples & carrots.
Pigs
Pigs come in many different colors, we have pink pigs, black pigs, and even pigs who are black and white. A mother pig can have many babies at once. Baby pigs are called piglets.
Fun fact:
Did you know? A pig’s nose is called a snout. The pig uses its snout to find food. Pigs love to play in the mud.
