教你實用英語，harry與密室：密室怪物大揭秘，原來是蛇怪
羅恩和harry又一次在黑暗森林裡死裡逃生，驚魂未定之餘大吐苦水「I mean, what was the point of sending us in there？」羅恩不免懷疑此行的意義。

「What have we found out?」羅恩轉過頭面向harry問道。
「We know one thing.Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets.」停頓一秒，harry接著說道「He was innocent.」
（innocent形容詞無辜的，天真的）
但是如果海格沒有打開密室，那線索就斷了。還有什麼辦法可以讓我們打探到密室的秘密呢？
赫敏的病床旁，Harry將乾枯的花朵扔掉，換上新採的鮮花，蓬勃的生機給這個充滿沉重與壓抑的房間增添了一絲可喘息的清新。「Wish you were here, Hermione.」
「We need you.」
「Now more than ever.」
Harry相信憑藉著赫敏的聰慧，她一定能找到密室的秘密，而不像他們一樣束手無策。
羅恩在一旁也嘆了口氣。
Harry望向赫敏，不斷撫摸著赫敏已經石化的手。
突然感覺到有些異樣，紙張一樣的觸感。
Harry從赫敏的手裡掏出了一張揉成團的紙，展開來看，裡面的內容驚嚇到了他。
「Ron，This is why Hermione was in the library the day she was attacked.」
「come on！」harry招呼羅恩離開，
他們邊走邊念赫敏紙張的內容：
Of the many fearsome beasts that roam our land...
（roam動詞漫步）
none is more deadly than the basilisk. Capable of living for hundreds of years...
（capable of doing能做某事）
instant death awaits any who meet this giant serpent's eye.
（瞬間的死亡等待著那個看見大蛇眼睛的人）
Spiders flee before it.
（flee逃跑）
Harry看著這些信息，突然靈光一閃「Ron, this is it.The monster in the Chamber of Secrets is a basilisk.That's why I can hear it speak. It's a snake.」
但是，有一點與紙張顯示的信息不符，羅恩問了出來「But if it kills by looking people in the eye, why is it no one's dead?」
為什麼所有人都是石化而沒有死呢？Harry思考了半晌，看著對面玻璃窗的倒影，想到
「Because no one did look it in the eye.」
「Not directly, at least.」
Harry靈光一閃，一條條列舉著「Colin saw it through his camera.」
「Justin-- Justin must have seen the basilisk through Nearly Headless Nick.
Nick got the full blast of it. But he's a ghost, he couldn't die again.」
「And Hermione had the mirror.I bet you she was using it to look around corners in case it came along.」

所有的一切似乎都解釋通了，還有第一個受害者，費爾奇的貓呢？它是怎麼被石化的？
這一點羅恩很是想不通，於是問道「And Mrs. Norris?I'm pretty sure she didn't have a camera or a mirror, Harry.」
Harry停住，思考著，回答道「The water.」
「There was water on the floor that night. She only saw the basilisk's reflection.」

而最後一句「Spiders flee before it.」想起蜘蛛排排離去的樣子，都對上了！密室裡的妖怪就是蛇怪！
「lt all fits.」harry感嘆著。
「But how's a basilisk been getting around?」羅恩想破頭也想不明白。
既然是蛇怪，為什麼沒人見過？它是怎麼避過所有人的？即使見過它眼睛的人會死，但只要人在遠處瞥見它的身影，轉身通風報信，就能知道密室怪物的真相，也不至於鬧得學校滿城風雨，甚至到了要停校的地步。
Harry將紙張的一角遞過來，「Hermione's answered that too.」，羅恩伸頭探來上面用黑色墨水清晰地寫著一個詞「pipes」
「Pipes?. It's using the plumbing.」羅恩激動地推測著。

「Remember what Aragog said about that girl 50 years ago?」harry突然從蛇怪跳到了女孩的話題上，讓羅恩有些反應不過來。
「She died in a bathroom?. What if she never left?」harry的推測瞬間讓羅恩張大了眼睛，答案呼之欲出。
