person 是一個人，persons 和 people 都是它的複數形式。但是 persons 這一複數形式更正式，法律文書和官方文件使用的多是 persons.
people 的意思是人們，person 更強調個體，而 people 強調的是集體。
其實，three people 和 three persons 這兩種表達都可以使用，但我們要根據不同的情境使用。
強調個人時，三個人就是 three persons；強調整體的時候，就可以用 three people.
大家一起通過這兩個句子來理解吧：
1、Only five people passed the exam in our class.
在我們班只有五個人通過了這次考試。
2、The five persons often go home together after school.
他們五個人放學後經常一起回家。
little people 平民；侏儒；小精靈（前面與the連用）
little 最常見的意思是少量的，但是 little people 不是這裡人很少或小的人。其實，little people 也是一個固定短語，真正的意思是平民和侏儒。
little people 既可以形容一個人身份地位低微，也表示身材矮小，所以 little people 就是平民和侏儒的意思。
此外，little people 和 fairy 的意思一樣，都是小精靈。
例句：
There is a song about the little people.
有一首關於小精靈的歌曲。
很多小夥伴們看到 a man of the people，都會下意識翻譯為人群中的一員（人民），實際上 a man of the people 的真正意思是人民公僕。
這個表達是形容那些體恤民情，心繫百姓的幹部。
例句：
He is a man of the people,everyone thanked him very much.
