Bottom line, 千萬別翻譯成「底線」

「Bottom line」

是一個非常常用的表達

如果直譯的話是「底線」

但是，「做人是要有底線的」

這個「底線」

可以用bottom line來表示嗎？

這個表達其實有兩層含義，

我們來看一下維基百科的解釋：

①The final balance; the amount of money or profit left after everything has been tallied. 

刨除所有開支之後，帳本的最終利潤。

②The summary or result; the most important information.

最終結果，最重要的信息。

第一個釋義屬於財務會計的範疇

如果你不是學習財會的

簡單了解即可

但是第二個釋義特別重要

翻譯成中文就是：

「別扯沒用的，直接說有用的」

「歸根結底」

「最重要的是」

我們來看兩個例句，體會一下：

The bottom line is that he lied to me.

歸根結底，他還是對我撒謊了。

The bottom line is that if we don't make some big changes, our company may not survive another year.

現在問題就是：如果我們不出做一些大的改變，我們的公司可能活不過明年了。

那麼問題來了

「做人的底線」

「不要挑戰我的底線」

這裡面的「底線」

用英語該怎麼表達呢？

我們可以用limit

我們來看一個例句，體會一下：

Don't you dare test my limits.

不要測試我的底線。

想描述一個人越界了

還可以用：

cross the line

I can tolerate a lot, but they really crossed the line when they made the airport cancel 100 flights.
