《錢鍾書手稿集》中《容安館札記》和《中文筆記》的錯簡，前已指正
（《中華讀書報》2004年2月11日、《上海書評》2012年4月22日又11月18日）
，《外文筆記》安容獨外？
假使把「按時排序」的編輯體例當真，那末全集的序列從頭到尾沒有對的——本與本的銜接只偶爾不錯。錢先生明白標識的過接詞「to be continued」,「à suivre」,「Fortsetzung folgt」（未畢）,「concluded」,「Fortsetzung」（已畢），編者度外恝置。甚至會把封面大書的「四餘室札記三」編排在「四餘室札記一」前（No. 12，No. 15），就別提把頭一本編為No. 109了。錢先生1971年在明港勞改營節抄的
Manifest der Kommunistischen Partei, Erinnerungen von Lenin
（編為No. 126、No. 125；同時另兩冊筆記編入No. 53和No. 99），編者Monika歸劃入「Worldwide Fame 1972-1998」——這「斷代」及名稱就破常人的常識（錢先生西文筆記止於1993年），還順藤摸瓜，歸因於「中德兩國的深厚友誼」。笑死我了——中書君小時候還罵「德國人是做香腸的民族，錯認幽默」呢。先不管他。
這兒說的錯簡，一指葉和葉銜接的零亂，一指本和本銜接的舛謬——僅依據錢先生的過接詞。
