Things are beginning to really warm up as week 8 comes to a close and we settle into the long second quarter. Lots of exciting Explore. Adapt. Impact activities have been going on in classes and around the school to keep students engagement levels at a high pitch.
隨著第8周的結束,學校的一切教學活動變得更加活躍。第二學季步入正軌。圍繞著學校辦學宗旨「勇於探索、兼容並蓄、成就自我」的各種豐富多彩的教學活動正在課內外有條不紊地進行著,並且學生的參與度和積極性都非常高。
In Miss Jo Ann’s PYP Year 3 class this week students were engaged in learning in action activities. They used manipulation to solve maths statements. They also devised mental calculation strategies to solve mathematical problems for addition and subtraction. In another project with the theme of endangered species, they used a sorting activity to learn about habitats. Students worked together to discuss their knowledge of animals and their habitats.
本周,在小學部3年級Jo Ann老師的課堂上,學生們參與了在行動中學習的課程活動。他們不但運用軟體和運算工具來解決數學問題。而且設計各種心算技巧以達到加減法的快速運算。在另一個以瀕危物種為主題的學習中,他們利用分類活動來了解棲息地。學生們一起討論了關於動物及其棲息地的知識。
In Mr John’s MYP Year 7 Design class students have begun their journey into exploring Product Design. They are up-skilling in the use of power tools and manipulation of resistance materials. Their summative assessment will make use of their knowledge and skills so that they can design and make a phone holder.
在中學部7年級的課堂上, John老師與學生們一起開啟了產品設計的探索旅程。他們學會了使用電動工具和操作電阻材料的技能。在本學期的期末考試評估中,他們將會利用在設計課堂上所學到的知識和技能,設計和製作一個電話支架。
Year 8 Design have been incorporating service as action into their unit. They are designing desktop lamps for DP students. Students have tested lighting conditions using lux meters and will adapt their lamp Design to meet global study lighting recommendations. Year 8 have been using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacture (CAM) to aid their manufacturing process.
8年級的設計課程已經融入了服務與行為的元素,他們正在為國際教育高中部的同學們設計檯燈。學生們利用勒克斯表測試照明條件。並且,他們將會調整檯燈的設計,以達到全球學習照明的建議。8年級的學生在製作過程中一直使用計算機輔助設計(CAD)和計算機輔助製作(CAM)軟體。
Year 9 have been looking at flat-pack and multi-functional furniture as part of their development of product design. Investigations included assembling Ikea styled products and conducting a SWOT analysis on the process. They are currently developing models of their designs.
9年級師生一直把平板包裝和多功能家具作為他們產品設計課程的一部分。在調研的過程中,我校學生對於宜家的產品進行了組裝,並且進行了SWOT 分析。他們目前正在開發他們設計的模型。
Year 11 Design Technology have finished their unit on Human factors and ergonomics. They have now moved onto their second topic which is on resource management & sustainable production. They will explore concepts such as recycling, reusing and re-engineering.
11年級的設計技術課已經完成了他們關於人為因素和工效學的單元學習。他們現在進入了第二個課題的研究,即資源管理和可持續生產。他們將會探索諸如回收、再利用和再次工程等概念。
In Mr Paul’s DP Korean A language and Literature class Year 12 students were busy preparing and practicing for the upcoming IOC exam. Students were checking and revising their novels, essays and poems they had learned in the last semester. In particular, various literary devices used in the works were analyzed and organized for their test. Furthermore, students were practicing their IOC presentation based on what students think about the theme and the issues that are presented in the task. Finally, Students will take the IOC exam on October 25th. The IOC exam is a very important assessement for the students because it is an essential course for completing a DP course and it is 15% of overall score in Korean A L&L.
在Paul老師高中部的韓語課程上,12年級的學生們正在忙於準備和練習即將到來的個人口試。學生們正在檢查和修改他們上學期學過的小說、散文和詩歌。特別是對於作品中使用的各種文學修辭手法進行分析並為考試做準備。此外,學生們根據他們對主題和任務中提出的問題來練習他們在個人口試的演講與陳述。最後,學生們將在10月25日參加個人口試。個人口試對學生來說是一項非常重要的考試,因為它是完成DP課程必修課,在韓語語言文學中佔15% 的總分。

This last week in boarding has been frenetic as our programmes launched back into full swing after the mid-term break. We are now into the last weeks of our first INSPIREd cycle and our boarders are working hard in the many varied activities on offer: karaoke, singing, dance, boxing and the many scheduled sports. Saturday past saw our 7-dayers trek to the Lost City of D for tenpin R&R and a light repast at one of the many restaurants available. We were also fortunate this last week to have the Australian students from Parkdale Secondary School and University of Melbourne students participate in our INSPIREd Programme, both at secondary and primary levels. It has been inspiring to see the level of commitment and joy gained by all in these activities. And so we beat on against the currents of adversity and change, confident that all Dragonites work to become better versions of themselves.
假期後,宿舍的啟發課程項目已全面開展,上周可謂是狂熱的一周。我們現在進入了第一輪啟發課程最後幾周,我校的住宿生正在積極地參與各項既定的活動:卡拉ok、唱歌舞蹈、拳擊等等。上周六,我校的7天住宿生們在老師的帶領下前往了迷失之城東莞,並在R&R 甜品店以及其他餐廳中品嘗了小吃。上周,我們還有幸邀請到了澳大利亞帕克代爾中學和墨爾本大學的研究生參加我校小學部和中學部的啟發課程教育課程。看到所有人在這些活動中獲得成就感和歡樂實在是件令人欣慰的事情。大家迎接挑戰不懼困難,我們相信所有住宿生都會努力成為最好的自己。
As you can see the pace never slackens as students conscientiously tackle their academic, arts and sports activities in a holistic way that prepares them for a bright future.
