Our chef's table series offers an intimate dining experience with guest chefs, giving you the opportunity to see how their dishes are prepared up close in our hutong kitchen. Engage with chefs as they personally serve you, introducing the background and inspiration behind each course.

Set menus allow you to relax while the experts compose a memorable meal.

Chef's Table Dinner

with Dieter Mackenbach

Thursday May 16th, 7pm

Dieter Mackenbach is a chef and culinary educator from Los Angeles living in Beijing. Having trained at the Sichuan Higher Institute of Cuisine and the International Culinary Center, he playfully prepares his take on "不中不西" (not Chinese, not Western) food. During his time living in Taipei after university, Dieter developed a passion for the diversity of Chinese cuisines and has been eagerly studying the flavors, ingredients, and cooking styles of different provinces and overseas Chinese communities since.

Having organized chef demonstrations at the largest farmers market in California, taught cooking classes in Hawaii, and run food tours in Chengdu, Dieter brings his broad culinary experience to the table for an evening at our Beijing courtyard. Dieter combines his background in French culinary technique, California cooking sensibility, and knowledge of Chinese ingredients in this unique tasting menu.

Tasting Menu

sugarcane juice, green plum wine, iced bitter tea
