在我們的學習中，經常會學到other, the other, another, others 等詞，而我們時常又分不清。平時的大考小考中，還經常會考他們的區分，讓我們選擇，我們有時會徘徊猶豫，到底選哪一個呢？今天筆者帶大家來一起做下區分。
other 作形容詞，「另外的，其他的」， 後接單、複數名詞均可。例句： If you have any other question, please ask me. 如果你還有其他任何問題，請問我。 Ask some other people. 問問其他人吧！
other 作代詞，「兩者中的一個」，前面常用定冠詞the，構成「the other」結 構，切記不能用another， 此處容易混淆。一般用於句型「One……the other……」
例句：She has two daughters. One is a doctor, the other is a teacher.
她有兩個女兒，一個是醫生，另一個是教師。
2. the other， other與the 搭配作代詞，用法同上。
the other +單數或複數名詞，表示在一定範圍內的其餘所有的人或物，the other作形容詞。
例句：Lily is much taller than the other girls.
Lily比其他的女孩高得多。
3. another 既可作代詞，也可作形容詞，只能用於三者及以上的人或物，泛指同類事物中三者或三者以上中的「另一個」，一般後跟可數單數名詞。
例句： I don't like this coat. Please show me another.
我不喜歡這件外套，請給我看一下另外的。
區別： the other 是特指， another 是泛指。
4.others: 泛指別的人或事物。
相當於other+複數名詞，注意： others只能作代詞，意思是「其他的人或物」，泛指餘下的其中的一部分人或物。常用語如下句型「some…others…」或「some…some…others…」。
例句：Some people like walking. Some like running. Others like swimming.
有些人喜歡散步，有些人喜歡跑步，其他人（其中一部分）喜歡遊泳。
Miss Wang is always glad to help others.
王小姐總是喜歡幫助別人。
