英語語用文化系列27：有關 「天氣」的習語 (Cloud idioms)
【本期內容】
太陽（the sun）是太陽系的中心天體，佔有太陽系總體質量的99.86%。太陽系中的八大行星、小行星、流星、彗星、外海王星天體以及星際塵埃等，都圍繞著太陽公轉，而太陽則圍繞著銀河系的中心公轉。
上期我們學習了有關天氣中「雲」（clouds）的習語，本期就讓我們繼續跟著上海時學教育的鐘老師，一起來學習有關天氣中「太陽」 的常用英語習語吧。
1) under the sun
【含義來源】這個短語很容易被大家理解為「在太陽底下」，其實不然，它是指「全世界的；在世界上」，還有「究竟；到底 」的意思，相當於on earth。
【例句
We talked about everything under the sun.
天南地北，我們無所不談。
Where under the sun could I have put the key?
2）make hay while the sun shines
【含義來源】字面意思「要趁太陽高照晾曬乾草」，後來引申為規勸他人「把握機會、勿失良機''。該習語有時表示「未雨綢繆」。
【例句】
Make hay while the sun shines, or you』ll regret missing the opportunities in your life.
要把握良機，否則你會為失去人生中的眾多機會而後悔不已。
Studying hard before the final examination is to make hay while the sun shines.
期末考試前努力學習，可謂「未雨綢繆」。
3）a place in the sun
【含義來源】該習語的字面含義是「一個暴露在陽光下的位置」，後面引申為「顯要地位；有利位置」
【例句】
Only the most vigorous will win their place in the sun.
只有最具活力的才能搶佔有利位置。
If you want a place in the sun, you have to put up with suffering.
想要佔有一席之地，你就要忍受苦難。
4）catch the sun
【含義來源】字面意思看「追著太陽」，那就錯了。其真正意思為」曬黑了，曬傷了「。
【例句】
Put on your hat so that you don't catch the sun on your trip.
帶上帽子這樣你在旅途中就不會被太陽曬著了。
Did you catch the sun on your holidays?
你假期曬到了吧？
