古裝劇 costume drama

新版《紅樓夢》從去年5月開拍至今，劇組曾多次吐苦水，稱沒錢投資周轉，還甚至讓「寶玉」、「黛玉」代言酒類產品籌錢。但從該劇拍攝規模、道具、布景、燈光等細節來看，可用華麗精緻形容，而製片人透露，新「紅樓」現金投資加上無形資源支持，已經超過2億。

新版《紅樓夢》製作方已經對該劇投入了2億元（合2900萬美元）的資金，創下了中國古裝電視劇的投資額歷史紀錄。
上面的報導中，costume drama就是指「古裝劇」，屬於period piece（歷史題材作品）的一種，裡面的costumes（服裝）, sets（場景） 和properties（道具）都要按context of the film/television（劇情）設置。
其實，我們平時看的影視劇除了這裡提到的costume drama（古裝劇）以外，還有比如historical dramas（歷史劇）、romances（愛情劇）、adventure films（探險劇）以及modern series（時裝劇）和horror film（恐怖片）等很多類型呢。看電影看多了，有時候也會覺得Life is a theatre, you never know what’s going to be staged. （人生如戲，你永遠都不知道接下來會發生什麼。）
