英語口語 「太陽從東邊升起」 不是from the east

「太陽從東邊升起」 ≠ from the east而要用in the east?

 

為什麼不用from the east？

按照咱們的中文說法「從東邊」=「from the east」。

但是這裡in the east表示地理位置上的絕對方向，在某個方位。全世界的人看太陽都是在東方升起（極點除外）。

 

因此正確的說法是：

The sun rises in the east.

太陽從東邊升起。

 

?「在東方」究竟如何表達？

 

A在B的東部

 

 

A在B的範圍內。

Beijing is in the east ofChina.

北京在中國的東部。

 

A在B的東方

A在B的範圍外。

A lies to the east of B

（口語中有時可將to the省去）

 

Taiwan lies (to the) east of Guangdong.

A在B的東邊(側)，也就是A與B相鄰。

示方位的「偏向」時通常用by

正東偏北：east by north

正南偏西：south by west

正北偏東：north by east

正南偏東：south by east

 

We are driving in the direction of east by north.
