Today’s English In Minute is all about the words assure, ensure and insure.
今天的＂一分鐘英語＂主要講assure， ensure和 insure這三個詞。
They’re often confused because they sound very similar.
這三個詞的發音也很相似，經常容易混淆。
To assure means to remove any doubt.
首先， assure意為消除疑慮。
It’s followed by an object pronoun, for example:
後面常跟代詞的賓格，例如:
My friend assured me that he would come to the party.
我朋友跟我保證一定會來這個聚會。
To ensure means to make sure that something happens.
而 ensure意為保證某事一定發生。
This verb is not followed by an object pronoun，for example:
這個動詞後面不跟代詞賓格形式，例如
I called the bakery to ensure the cake would be ready for the party.
我打了電話給麵包店，確保聚會的蛋糕準備好了。
To insure means to protect something with an insurance policy， for example:
而 insure意為用保障政策保護某物，例如:
I insured my car against theft.
我給我的車投保了偷竊險。
