熱門事件學英語：「小悅悅事件」與誠信問題

　　Girl in double hit-and-run 肇事逃逸 dies

　　GUANGZHOU - Yue Yue, the 2-year-old girl who was run over by two vehicles last week and ignored by numerous passers-by（許多路人）, died in hospital on Friday.

　　She died of brain failure at the General Hospital of the Guangzhou Military Command in South China's Guangdong province, doctors said.

　　Her death triggered（引起） a nationwide（全國範圍的） wave（高潮） of mourning（哀悼）, as the incident has been closely followed by people who are concerned about（關注） a seemingly （看起來）lack of缺乏 morality道德 in Chinese society.【備註：今年考研作文重點句型】

　　Chinese netizens網民 mourned 悼念Yue Yue and wished her well in another world. "I hope her departure 離開will bring concrete （具體的）changes to society," said one.

　　Yue Yue's case, which has aroused attention and heated discussions across the country,【插入語，寫作用】 has become far more than a traffic accident.　　

　　Commentators （評論員）and the public have reflected on（思）考 what is missing in the morality（道德） of society.

　　As heart-breaking footage（連續鏡頭） from a surveillance（ 監控）camera（照相機） shows, 18 people who passed the accident scene（事發現場） in a hardware（五金） market（市場） in Foshan, Guangdong province, ignored her.　

　　A full seven minutes after the first vehicle ran over the girl, a 57-year-old rag collector （撿廢品者）spotted her and found the parents.

　　The public has poured out （傾訴）its anger on the indifferent（漠不關心的） passers-by and hailed（致敬） the woman who tried to save her as the only one showing a conscience.（道德心；良心）

　　Both she and the girl's family have been offered donations.捐款

　　The incident once again raised （提高）the possibility of legislation（立法；法律） against those who refuse to help others in danger at accident scenes.【寫作用】該事件再次提高了在事發現場對於處於垂危處境的人拒絕提供幫助之人的立法可能性。

　　Many have said the system of protecting those who help others in danger needs to be reinforced（加強,） after controversial（有爭議的） court（法庭） verdicts （裁決i）n a number of cases（案例） where the rescuers（救援者） were sued for（控告） causing the accidents.　　

　　Comments have also pointed to （指出）the negligence（疏忽） of Yue Yue's parents and insufficient（不夠的） parental care（家長看護） of many small children.

　　The media as well has been scrutinized（詳細檢查） for negative（消極的） reporting of such accidents, which is deemed as（被視為） partly（在一定程度上） holding the public back（阻止） from helping others in danger.

　　As（作為） a sign（跡象） of change, the past few days have seen【寫作用】 a lot of news about cases of people helping others in danger. A Guangzhou-based media group has called on 號召society to "say no to indifference and awaken true love."【寫作提出解決措施】拒絕冷漠，喚醒真愛。

　　The Guangdong provincial authorities organized three rounds of panel discussions by people from various fields on helping people in need.（幫助需要幫助的人）

　　Wang Yang, Guangdong Party secretary, urged（敦促） at a provincial Party committee meeting【插入成分】 that "with the participation of the public, a system, conditions and social environment be created to promote good and punish evil."（促進善行，懲治邪惡"）

　　Efforts should be made to lift the morality of the whole society and the conscience of everyone and to avoid similar things from happening again." 【提解決措施時候使用】應該努力提升整個社會和個人的道德心，以此來避免類似事情的發生。
