如果一個句子包含兩個或多個相互之間無從屬關係的句子，這樣的句子稱為並列句。並列句的各個分句之間通常由並列連詞連接。有時在同一個句子裡常用並列連詞連接兩個並列成分，如連接兩個名詞、動詞、形容詞或副詞。
1. so的用法
so表示因果關係。例如：
Nobody came to answer the door, so I left.
沒有人來應門，所以我離開了。
I found a body running after me, so I stopped.
我發現有個男孩在追我，所以我停了下來。
Mr. Baker had a few days off, so he went to the mountain by train.
貝克先生有幾天假期，所以他乘火車去山裡。
注意：so與because不能同時用於同一句中。例如：
因為地球圍繞太陽轉，所以我們有四季。
(×)Because the earth moves round the sun, so we have four seasons.
(√)The earth moves round thesun, so we have four seasons.
(√)Because the earth moves round the sun, we have four seasons.
