【小學英語說課】What would you like?

新人教版五年級上冊

1. Teaching aims

1) Knowledge aim

Students can master the new words such as 「hamburger, sandwich, salad 」…

Students can master the sentence structure: 「What would you like to eat/drink?」 and answer: I』d like….

2) Ability aim

Students can use the new words to order meals in a fast food restaurant and ask others requirments.

3) Emotional aim

Students can build a confidence of learning English and learn to cooperate with others.

2. Important and difficult points

1) Important point

Students will be able to master the meaning of the words such as 「hamburger, sandwich, salad」…

2) Difficult point

Students need to master the usage of the sentence 「what would you like ? 」 and answer the question.

3. Teaching and learning methods

Task-based learning method; Communicative teaching method; cooperation method; independent study method

4. Teaching procedures

Step 1: Warm-up and lead in

Students will sing a song 《If you are happy》to warm up for the class. Then they have a free talk in class and talk about foods in their daily life to lead in the topic.

Step 2: Presentation

Teacher shows some pictures about birthday party, and invite the students to choose their favourite food to celebrate the birthday party. Then teacher will show some pictures of the food and learn the new words.

Step 3: Practice

1) Flashing cards. Teacher flashes the word cards to the students, they read the words quickly.

2) Guessing Game. Teacher gives some clues of the words, students guess the words according to the clues. They can have a better understanding of the words while playing.

Step 4: Production

Students will work in groups and do a role play game. Students act as waitress and guests, then order foods according to the menu they write. Then encourage some of them to act it out in front of the class. They can learn to cooperate with their partners.

Step 5: Summary and homework

1. Summary

Students will summarize what they have learned today with the teacher’s help.

2. Homework

Read the new words and learn to order.
