DUCHENNE muscular dystrophy is a horrible disease. Afflicting mainly boys, it weakens their muscles and eventually confines them to wheelchairs. In the end, typically when they are in their 20s, it kills them.
confine sb to wheelchairs
He has been being confined to wheelchairs for 20 years due to an accident
confine sb to bed
I am sick, I have to confine to bed
此外,confine to 還有「把某人監禁在某處」的意思,to keep someone in a place that they cannot leave, such as a prison,
Any soldier who leaves his post will be confined to barracks
The penny needs to drop, too
penny drops,俚語,意思是「恍然大悟,茅舍頓開,終於明白」,英文釋義為「one finally understands, relaizes and recognizes something, typically in the past tense」,
He puzzled over her remarks for a moment, then the penny dropped
(1)not a penny
(2)turn up like a bad penny
(3)pretty penny

year-to-date:英文釋義為「 a period, starting from the beginning of the current year, and continuing up to the present day.
As of yesterday, HP (HPQ) stock was down 40% over the last 12 months and 44% year-to-date.
T-shirts say they do not give a damn about any tape (and whatever is on it, they add,Bill Clinton did worse).
