由於目前最新一期經濟學人還未更新（預計本周六早上），故今天回頭看了一下三年前的某期《經濟學人》發現了一些比較好的寫作&翻譯表達，諸位看官可以拿小本本記下來呃。
1 經濟學人如何表達「因（癱瘓或疾病）等不得不坐輪椅」，請看經濟學人原文：
DUCHENNE muscular dystrophy is a horrible disease. Afflicting mainly boys, it weakens their muscles and eventually confines them to wheelchairs. In the end, typically when they are in their 20s, it kills them.

confine, 動詞表示「把……限制在……，」，常與to連用，wheelchairs ，輪椅，所以意思是「某人因病或癱瘓不得不坐輪椅」，

由於一場事故，他輪椅一坐就是20年
confine sb to bed
confine to 還常常與bed連用，，表示「（因病或癱瘓）臥床」，
I am sick, I have to confine to bed 我生病了，必須臥床休息
此外，confine to 還有「把某人監禁在某處」的意思，to keep someone in a place that they cannot leave, such as a prison，
Any soldier who leaves his post will be confined to barracks
離職守的士兵都要受到在營房裡關禁閉的處罰
2 經濟學人如何表達「茅舍頓開，恍然大悟，終於明白之意」，請看經濟學人原文：
The penny needs to drop, too
penny needs to drop，這個是英國俚語，原型是「penny drops」，penny，美分，便士，drop，掉落，字面意思是「錢掉了」，可以這麼理解，當你一掏口袋，發現錢沒了，才恍然大悟，原來錢掉在了某個地方。
penny drops，俚語，意思是「恍然大悟，茅舍頓開，終於明白」，英文釋義為「one finally understands, relaizes and recognizes something, typically in the past tense」,
He puzzled over her remarks for a moment, then the penny dropped
他想了片刻她的話，終於恍然大悟
此外，penny這個單詞有很多短語，例如：
（1）not a penny 不名一文，一文不值
（2）turn up like a bad penny 冤家路窄
（3）pretty penny 一大筆錢

此外，damn也用作形容詞，表示「」非常，很，例如，

damn 還有個表達，not a damn thing，一點也不，相當於 not at all，例如，
