英語閱讀：加強安保 ramped up security
下面這段簡單英語可能會被「學了」多年英語的學生/人認為：只能翻譯成中文「才能懂了」否則的話「根本無法理解」。
這就是長期只會「用」中文(才能)「懂」英語的人產生的「後遺症」，也是多年來「學」英語白白浪費時間的有力證明：只有中文才能「救」英語？
一、只能「翻譯」成中文「才能懂」的「英語閱讀」是不是很尷尬？
After Wednesday's riot at the U.S. Capitol by President Trump supporters, the city has ramped up security, ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration. Fences and barricades surround federal buildings and National Guard troops have been deployed to the area.
二、「英語閱讀」問的是你「用」英語「懂」的能力，不是問你：懂它的中文嗎？
1.Okay.I got you,a riot is a violence,is a serious breaking of law and order.Peopke who engage in riots are called violent rioters,or mobs.
「英語閱讀」需要的是這樣的「英語能力」，不是要你翻譯riot成中文的「能力」。如果你多年來一直做不到，就知道學其它的都是白學，沒有意義。同樣的時間精力，你「投資」的大方向一開始就錯了，難怪到頭來還是「顆粒無收」。
2.If the city has ramped up security,it has intensified its security,has strengthened its security.
見到ramped up security只能「說」它的中文，卻「說不出」它的英語，這才是「英語閱讀」最需要加強的訓練點。不是「懂中文就算是英語閱讀」了。
3.If you're President-elect,that means You have been elected President,but you have not taken office,have not been sworn in.
我們是否能夠藉助president-elect一詞，「說說」英語take office,be sworn in？恐怕很難，而且還根本不屑於接受這樣的能力訓練：我懂它的中文不就行了嗎？
4.If National Guard troops have been deployed,that means they are stationed there,they stand guard there.
英語只有大量使用，才會「學以致用」。而「英語閱讀」正好是給我們「用」英語的機會：你卻為什麼「用起」(英譯漢)中文來了呢？
