《老友記》有一集是6個人打牌，Ross加注的時候發現錢不夠了，說了一句：Joey, I'm a little shy.想和他借錢。結果，Joey傻乎乎地說，沒事Ross，有啥好害羞的，跟我說(求Ross的心理陰影面積)，還好旁邊有個明白人Chandler，掏出錢包，問他需要多少，才治癒了這個尷尬癌!
shy確實有害羞的意思，I'm shy 在一定語境下，也是"我害羞"的意思，但是一般說自己害羞，後邊會加名詞，比如：I'm a shy girl.
shy還可以表達「不足的、缺乏的」。
