Present Simple Tense（一般現在時） 

Present Simple Tense is used for the following reasons(When do we use the present simple？): 

1. To describe present truths 表示事實或現階段的狀態

e.g. I have black hair. 

      Andrew is a fireman.

      Julia works in a supermarket. 

2. Things that are always true . 表示事實、常識、永恆不變的真理用一般現在時

e.g.  Cheetah is the fastest land animal.

        Fruits and vegetables contain a lot of 

        vitamins.

        Sunlight helps plants grow.

        The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

3. For habbits or for things that happen sometimes or all the time. The following adverbs are commonly used for simple present tense: never,sometimes,usually, frequently,often , always.用於描述有一定頻率的事情（偶爾發生的事，經常發生的事，從不發生的事等）。句中經常會出現這些詞：never,sometimes,usually, frequently,often, always.

e.g. I sometimes skip breakfast. 

      We often visit Beijing. 

      James reads the newspaper every morning.

      My girlfriend and  I go shopping every 

      Wednesday.
