Indie music is a term used to describe music produced by musicians independently from recording to publishing which greatly differs from the music produced by the major commercial record labels. Indie music is not a single music style, but a term that combines with other music styles, for example, indie pop, indie rock, indie folk and so on. Whatever the specific music style is, the indie musicians』 attitude to playing instruments and singing is always about music rather than entertainment or business.

Indie pop is a subclass of indie music. Indie pop musicians believe in punk’s Do-It-Yourself spirit and oppose the loss of individuality in commercialism, but they do not follow punk’s nihilistic radical stance and pursuit of rough sound. Quite a few parts of the lyrics describe the free attitude, such as 「I wanna move when I wanna wanna move; I wanna groove when I wanna wanna groove; I think that I’m gonna break it」. It actually reveals the composer’s outlook on love: Keep the absolute freedom even in love. Love and freedom is a common pair of contradiction in emotion.
