此次個展呈現了藝術家2019年和2020年創作的小尺幅作品,關於這樣罕見的小尺寸作品,派克這樣闡述她的靈感與選擇:「我最近發現了一位美國上世紀中葉的超現實主義畫家,格特魯德·阿伯克朗比(Gertrude Abercrombie),這次展覽在很多方面都受到了她的啟發。她創作了一些簡單但具有魔力的小尺幅畫作,這也是我試圖用自己的方式在這次展覽中呈現的作品。由於我肩膀的問題,使我無法再進行大尺幅作品的創作了。但是我不斷發現,那些局限性往往會激勵我的創作,局限往往能帶來無限可能。」格特魯德·阿伯克朗比作品

The exhibition is presenting a series of relatively small paintings created during the last two years. When asked about the size of her paintings, Peck says: 「I recently discovered an American mid-century surrealist artist named Gertrude Abercrombie, and in many ways this show was inspired by her work. She worked on a small scale, making simple but magical little paintings, and that is what I am trying to do here, in my own way. 《異想世界》的多數作品一改往常藝術家的風格,色調偏暗。瑪莉安·派克熱愛光明,但也熱愛黑暗:「黑暗是個謎,是道教的陰級,是女性化的,是海洋、夜空與潛意識的深處。. 我發現一天最神奇的時刻是黎明和黃昏,當明暗轉換位置的時候。在那裡我們可以感覺到一塊世界之間的地方。那就是我想要畫的地方」。
In some ways, the paintings exhibited in the show BETWEEN WORLDS have a darker aura than the artist’s previous works. Marion Peck says she loves the light as well as the darkness: "Darkness is mystery, the yin of the Tao, the feminine, the depths of the ocean, of the night sky, of the subconscious. ... I find the most magical times are dawn and dusk, when light and dark are changing places. There we can sense a place between worlds. That’s the place I’m trying to paint."
