先祝大家新年快樂！因新年是猴年，我問朋友同事們英語中有什麼跟猴子有關的表達，收集了一些：
monkey suit
可不是悟空的虎皮，而是指正式場合穿的燕尾服，說成是猴子穿的很讓人凌亂。
monkey food，monkey flower
不是指香蕉，而是古柯鹼的黑話。monkey flower是指大麻。這麼多毒品說法和猴子有關，所以吸毒上癮了，也可以說是on the monkey wagon，類似於我們說的上了賊船。
職場上的「monkey」
很多職業說法和猴子有關，比如grease monkey 是指汽車修理工，powder monkey 是指放炸藥搞爆炸的人，monkey boy 是指職場上被高層隨意使喚的受氣包角色。我們的程序猿，英文叫code monkey, 有貶義。Don't monkey with this nickname.
slowly slowly catchy monkey
心急吃不得熱豆腐，功到自然成。
monkey business
指的是不靠譜行為，黑幫電影裡常用。No monkey business, okay?
throw a monkey wrench into something
指找麻煩。monkey wrench是闊口扳手。機器裡扔個扳手進去，肯定會把機器搞壞。所以此說是指製造麻煩。
make a monkey out of ...
指給人出洋相。
Monkey see, monkey do!
猴子看了猴子做，指「有樣學樣」。
hundredth Monkey Effect
直譯為第一百隻猴子效應，指的是某行為被一群人學會之後，會擴散至另外一群人，或者說「一傳十，十傳百」。
monkey around
瞎胡鬧。
Never monkey with another monkey's monkey.
朋友之妻不可欺。
not give a monkey's
英國用法，指滿不在乎。
例句：I won't give a monkey's.
more fun than a barrel of monkeys
指非常搞笑。
Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!
直接翻譯為：這樣的話，我簡直就是猴子他叔了。意思是難以置信。
If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
直譯為：你付的是花生的錢，就只請得起猴子。意思是想請能人就得多花錢，不能又要馬兒跑，又要馬兒不吃草。
cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey
凍得銅猴子的球都掉了，指天太冷。如果覺得此說太俗，可用鼻子、耳朵替代球。英國也用brass monkey weather指極冷的天氣。
monkey’s wedding
南非用語，指的是那種東邊日出西邊雨，道是無情卻有情的天氣。
This is my circus and these are my monkeys!
直譯為，這是我的馬戲團，這些是我的猴子。這是中文裡「我的地盤我做主」很好的表述。
a monkey on one’s back猴子在背上，意思是遇到了很麻煩的事。有點像我們說的「芒刺在背」。例句：Wait till I get this monkey off my back.西班牙語中還有個說法：「Mono vestido de seda, mono queda.」意思是給猴子穿上綢緞它還是猴子。順便說一句，以上很多說法，我也是第一次聽說，是查字典才找到定義的。我曾寫過一本書，叫《知識不是力量》，呼籲部分知識放在頭腦裡，部分知識放在世界上。放在世界上得知道怎麼去找。除了一般的搜索之外，我想向大家推薦如下資源：http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/
通過此詞典，用關鍵詞，可以搜索到更多相關用語。只不過上面我所列的比較常用一些，太高冷的，外國人自己也不知道，不如不用。

上面習慣用語有的我沒列用法和例句。如果找例句，可查詢（並強烈建議收藏）楊百翰大學的現代美國英語語料庫，上面各種例句都有，關鍵還都是現實使用的例句，不是胡編出來的。
還有一些說法，非習慣用語，但是比較有趣，一併摘錄：
If you put enough monkeys in a room with a typewriter they'll produce Shakespeare.要是你把足夠的猴子放在一間屋子裡，它們能寫出莎士比亞來。多為對進化論（物種偶然間變成了其他物種）的諷刺。
「Monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.」
——模里西斯藝術家Malcom De Chazal猴子有一點比人強，猴子照鏡子的時候，看到的只是猴子。我們說豬八戒照鏡子，裡外不是人。而大師兄照鏡子，則裡外都是猴子。人則自以為是，照著鏡子看到的都不知道是誰。
關於猴子還有一些有趣的童謠，一般伴隨著相應的表演，適合嬰幼兒：
"Monkey, monkey, in a tree;
I see you, and you see me;
hang by your fingers,
hang by your toes,
but don't fall down on your pretty little nose."
歌詞大意是，猴子在樹上上躥下跳，別不小心掉下來把鼻子砸扁了。
還有這個 ：
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Four little monkeys jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

One fell off and bumped her head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,

這裡是說猴子在床上亂跳，頭碰了，或是摔了。
另外一個變種和鱷魚有關：

這裡是說猴子在樹上玩耍，不小心會掉下來，被鱷魚怪蜀黍吃掉。
很多童謠裡都含有文化密碼。猴子是很頑皮的形象，上面幾首童謠，都是過去的家長，警告皮得像猴一樣的小孩。但是近些年來，如《林中最後一個孩子》書中說的那樣，孩子們不亂跑亂跳了，太宅，太靜，太愛玩手機，周圍林子也少，小孩很少去亂跑到周圍林子裡了。時過境遷，一些用心的家長，便用這些童謠，鼓勵孩子們在床上蹦跳，去戶外玩耍了。
祝各位的孩子，新年裡都頑皮、皮實得像猴子一樣。首先自己要帶頭，Monkey see, monkey do. 別跟別人比拼，孩子都是你自己的。This is my circus and these are my monkeys! 當然，No monkey business, okay? 不然的話，You'll have a monkey on your back.
