give it a go在英語口語裡常用，因為我們對go太熟悉了，可能會以為它是「隨它去」的意思，但是這完全是錯誤的理解：
例如：
If you've not tried Twitter yet, give it a go.
不是：如果你沒有用過推特，那就放手吧。
而是：如果你沒有用過推特，不妨試一試。
give it a go在這裡是一個固定短語，它不是「隨它去，放手」的意思。
我們知道go做動詞，常用的意思是「去，走」，所以give it a go會讓人覺得是「隨它去，放手」。
但是仔細一看，我們會發現go在這個短語裡並不是動詞，而是名詞，而且是可數名詞，它前面有a修飾。
go做名詞時，常見的意思是「嘗試、一番努力；精力、活力、熱情、幹勁」
因此，give it a go是give it a try，試一試，試一下：
Why not give it a go? You've nothing to lose and everything to gain.
為什麼不試試呢？你不會失去什麼，卻可能收穫多多。
I'm not usually much good at this sort of game, but I'll give it a go.
我通常不太會玩這種遊戲，但我會試一把。
I doubt if he'll listen to advice from me, but I'll give it a go.
我懷疑他是否會聽我的勸告，但我會試一試。
go相同含義的短語還有have a go at：嘗試，試一下：
I want to have a go at finishing my essay tonight.
我想試著今晚寫完我的論文。
I always wanted to have a go at football.
我一直想去踢足球。
have a go at還有「攻擊，批評」的意思：
He is sure to have a go at me for spending so much money.
我花了這麼多錢，他肯定會對我大發雷霆。
想說「隨它去，放手」，我們可以說let it go:
OK, I'll let it go this time.

How can we let it go at that?
我們怎麼能就此罷休呢？
