威尼斯雙年展中國館主辦方中國對外文化集團公司介紹，第57屆威尼斯雙年展中國館策展人、策展主題與參展藝術家已經確定：
第57屆威尼斯雙年展中國館由中央美術學院實驗藝術學院院長邱志傑擔任策展人，他將率湯南南、鄔建安、汪天穩、姚惠芬四位藝術家參展，中國館主題為「不息(Continuum-Generation by Generation)」。

在邱志傑邀請的參展藝術家名單中，除了當代藝術界熟知的鄔建安、湯南南之外，汪天穩其實是一位從事皮影雕刻藝術50多年的國家級工藝美術大師， 姚惠芬則是一位蘇繡的國家級非遺傳承人。
日前，第57屆威尼斯雙年展主辦方已對外公布展出時間為2017年5月13日至11月26日，目前已經有不少國家相繼公布了國家館代表藝術家、策展人、主題以及相關展覽項目等更多細節，從主辦方公開的120位主題展參展藝術家名單中，我們發現了六位中國藝術家的名字，包括耿建翌、關小、郝量、劉建華、劉野、周滔(音譯)。
2016年9月份，雙年展主席保羅·巴拉塔(Paolo Baratta)及策展人克裡斯汀·馬薩爾(Christine Macel)共同宣布本屆威尼斯雙年展主題定為「藝術萬歲」(Viva Arte Viva)。
第57屆威尼斯雙年展策展人馬薩爾表示，「藝術萬歲」這個主題恰到好處的反映了藝術家在當代藝術框架下所扮演的角色和所承擔的責任。在宣布雙年展主題的聲明中，馬薩爾認為本屆威尼斯雙年展是和藝術家一起設計、被藝術家設計、為藝術家設計的一場展覽，「希望可以成為一種經驗，呈現出對他人、凡事，以及模糊不清的維度的一種外向的包容，向新人文主義開闢出一條新路。」
第57屆威尼斯雙年展除了有來自57個國家和地區的藝術家作品所組成的各國家館大展，還會每周舉辦一場「圓桌」(Open Table)，邀請藝術家與公眾一起對談，探討與藝術有關的話題。今年一月，威尼斯雙年展主席保羅·巴拉塔委任馬薩爾擔任總策展人時說到，她是「一位致力於強調藝術家在他們所創造的那個世界中所扮演的角色的重要性，同時將生命力與活力溫和地注入到我們所生存的世界中。」
此外，1979年生於香港的聲音藝術家楊嘉輝(Samson Young)將代表中國香港參展，獨立策展人郭瑛(Ying Kwok)負責展館策劃，M+博物館執行總監、首席策展人鄭道煉(Doryun Chong)擔任顧問策展人。
行為藝術家謝德慶將代表中國臺灣參展，策展人由英國學者、策展人亞德裡安•希斯菲爾德(Adrian Heathfield)擔任。談及此次參展威尼斯雙年展，謝德慶表示：「這次展覽是一次非常難得的機會，能夠展出我之前在臺灣創作的很多從未公開過的早期作品，同時還能夠給予我在紐約創作的『一年行為表演』全新的理解。能夠獲得提名委員會的青睞，得以參展威尼斯雙年展是我莫大的榮幸。」
其他幾個亞洲國家此前也陸續公布了今年威尼斯雙年展參展藝術家名單，觀念藝術家崔玄周(Cody Choi)和Lee Wan將代表韓國參展，而韓國國家館的策展人則將由來自首爾的策展人李大衡(Daehyung Lee)擔任。廣島藝術家巖崎貴宏(Takahiro Iwasaki)代表日本參展2017年5月13日開幕的第57屆威尼斯雙年展，其作品將在Meruro Washida擔任策展的「顛倒的森林」中呈現。
邱志傑
邱志傑，1969年生於福建漳州。1992年畢業於浙江美術學院版畫系，開始介入當代藝術活動。現為中央美術學院實驗藝術學院院長。他的創作活動涉及書法、水墨繪畫、攝影、錄像、裝置、劇場等多種方式。他代表了一種溝通中國文人傳統與當代藝術、溝通社會關懷和藝術的個人解放力量的嶄新嘗試。
他的主要個展包括：2016與時間賽跑，義大利常青畫廊;2015大計劃，福建美術館;2013獨角獸和龍，威尼斯Querini Stampalia博物館;2012藍圖，鹿特丹WDW藝術中心;2009偶像的黃昏：南京長江大橋劃之四，世界文化宮，柏林;2008破冰:南京長江大橋之三，尤倫斯當代藝術中心，北京;南京長江大橋自殺現象幹預計劃之一：2008莊子的鎮靜劑，證大現代藝術館，上海，等等。曾出版《影像與後現代》、《給我一個面具》、《自由的有限性》、《重要的是現場》、《攝影之後的攝影》等藝術理論著作。主要作品集有《邱志傑：無知者的破冰史》、《時間的形狀：邱志傑的光書法攝影》、《莫愁：邱志傑近作》、《記憶考古》等。他作為策展人策劃了1996年中國最早的錄像藝術展，以及1999年到2005年之間推介青年一代藝術家的「後感性」系列展覽。2012年，他是第九屆上海雙年展「重新發電」的總策展人。
湯南南
1969年生於福建雲霄，藝術家，教師。廈門大學藝術學院碩士，中國美術學院跨媒體藝術學院博士。現任教於中國美術學院、集美大學美術學院。作品以現代都市鄉愁為核心主題，討論時間與記憶、神話與詩歌、鄉愁與生死等多個命題,試圖以社會學文化研究為基礎,嘗試繪畫、裝置、攝影、多屏幕錄像劇場等多種藝術方式的融通互鑑，努力探索基於自身生活經驗並關切當代生活情境的藝術方式。
2016年於北京民生現代美術館舉辦個展「鑄浪為山」，還曾在中國美院美術館(2015)、紐約(2009)舉辦個展。先後參加烏拉爾工業雙年展(2015)、第九屆上海雙年展(2012)、第一屆南京三年展(2005)、法國ALTKIRCH現代美術館的中國當代影像展等展覽(2004，巴黎)。
鄔建安
鄔建安，1980年生出生於北京，於2005年畢業於中央美術學院，獲碩士學位並留校任教，現為中央美術學院實驗藝術學院副教授，碩士生導師。他的作品曾先後參加了福岡亞洲美術館、林肯郡博物館、中央美院美術館、華盛頓甘迺迪藝術中心、恭王府、波士頓美術館、紐約大都會藝術博物館等機構的展出。
在鄔建安早期的作品中，他通過中國傳統剪紙藝術對中西方神話和哲學進行了具有個人風格和當代文化想像的詮釋。而此次展覽，不僅呈現了其最為熟稔的創作媒材和風格的作品，同時他也將主題和媒材涉獵到更為廣泛的領域。
汪天穩
汪天穩，1949年出生，從事皮影雕刻藝術50多年，其「推皮運刀」技法傲然於皮影界，也因此與河北河南東北等地甚至英法德泰國等各國皮影不同，更加精細準確。他對皮影的歷史淵源、傳承流變、風格特點、舊稿古譜甚至行規風俗等都爛熟於心，並在創作上、對失傳圖稿的整理和複製、對老皮影的鑑定與修復都有很大貢獻，中外關於皮影學術研究的第一手資料大都來源於他。2006年，汪天穩以《西廂幽會》《霸王別姬》《穆桂英戰番將》三件作品力克群雄，以精密準確的人物造型、流暢遒勁的刀工、傳統中求變的汪氏風格，成為第五屆中國工藝美術大師中的皮影雕刻藝術大師。也是在世的皮影創作者中唯一的一個國大師，名副其實坐上第一把交椅。
姚惠芬
姚惠芬，1967年出生於蘇州刺繡世家，自幼就開始學習刺繡。師從近代蘇繡"仿真繡"大師沈壽的第三代傳人牟志紅和中國工藝美術大師任嘒嫻。擅長將蘇繡亂針繡的技法完美地融入中國傳統水墨畫的繡制中，使其繡品更具獨創性。主要代表作品有《張大千肖像》、《潑彩紅荷圖》、《荷之韻》等。
