【早安英文筆記】「sleep over」的意思不是「睡過頭」！錯了這麼多年，快改過來！

最近早安君很焦慮，晚上都睡不著，不知道怎麼回事，可能有心事吧。
所以今天聊一聊「睡覺」這件事吧。
sleep是「睡覺」，而over是「超過」，sleep over表面意思看上去像「睡過頭了」，其實它表示的是....
解釋一：to stay the night at sb else's home 在別人家裡過夜
解釋二：If someone, especially a child, sleeps over in a place such as a friend's home, they stay there for one night. (尤指孩子) 不在家過夜
還有，go to sleep的意思是表示「prepare for sleep」 準備去睡覺了，跟go to bed的意思是接近的。
早安君再教大家幾個短語，① hit the hay
hay表示「乾草」，hit the hay表示「倒在乾草上睡覺」，引申的意思就是「去睡覺」的意思。hay在俚語中的意思就是bed。
② hit the sack
sack表示「麻布袋」，跟hit the hay一樣，就是倒在了麻布袋上就睡著了，也就是go to sleep的意思。sack在俚語中的意思就是bed。
③ sack out 不是表示「把麻布袋翻出來」，其實也表示go to sleep的意思。
④ turn in 不是表示「轉彎進入」，其實是表示go to bed的意思。
今天教了那麼多「去睡覺」的表達，你記住了嗎？
而「睡過頭」的英文是 oversleep 或者 sleep in。sleep over和oversleep這兩個短語長得很像，真的有點傻傻分不清楚。
舉幾個例子：
1、I have to sleep over in my friend's house because it's too late to go home.
我不得不在朋友家過夜，因為太晚了不便回家。
2、My friends suggest we should sleep over in their home for it's so dangerous to drive at night.
我的朋友們建議我們在他們家過夜，因為晚上開車太危險了。
