中共中央印發了修訂後的《中國共產黨問責條例》，並發出通知，要求各地區各部門認真遵照執行。修訂後的《條例》主要針對各級黨組織、黨委領導幹部以及各級紀委（紀檢組）。The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has issued a revised regulation on Party accountability, as well as a circular calling on Party organizations at all levels to follow the regulation. The revised regulation targets Party organizations and leading officials of Party committees and discipline inspection committees.

2016年7月中共中央印發的《中國共產黨問責條例》，為黨的問責工作提供了制度遵循，推動失責必問、問責必嚴成為常態，發揮了全面從嚴治黨的利器作用。根據新的形勢、任務和要求，黨中央對《條例》予以修訂。《條例》規定，黨委（黨組）應當履行全面從嚴治黨主體責任，加強對本地區本部門本單位問責工作的領導，追究在黨的建設、黨的事業中失職失責黨組織和黨的領導幹部的主體責任、監督責任、領導責任。紀委應當履行監督專責，協助同級黨委開展問責工作。紀委派駐（派出）機構按照職責權限開展問責工作。問責對象是黨組織、黨的領導幹部，重點是黨委（黨組）、黨的工作機關及其領導成員，紀委、紀委派駐（派出）機構及其領導成員。對黨組織問責的，應當同時對該黨組織中負有責任的領導班子成員進行問責。黨組織和黨的領導幹部應當堅持把自己擺進去、把職責擺進去、把工作擺進去，注重從自身找問題、查原因，勇於擔當、敢於負責，不得向下級黨組織和幹部推卸責任。《條例》明確，實行終身問責，對失職失責性質惡劣、後果嚴重的，不論其責任人是否調離轉崗、提拔或者退休等，都應當嚴肅問責。
