Air pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds, SO2、CO2和NOx, have, and continue to significantly influence air quality, the earth’s climate and human health. Biochemical processes have become a cost-effective means for air pollution control because of their high efficiency, low environmental impact and easy application in terms of engineering. Recently, a variety of novel biological and integrated physicochemical-biological processes have been developed which have shown great potential. This Special Issue compiles contributions that cover various aspects of science and technology and recent innovations in the field of biochemical processes for air pollution control. It will give the readers a comprehensive overview of the current status and future prospects in science and technology in this field. There is a total of 34 accepted papers written by key researchers in the field, covering fundamental and applied recent progress in biochemical processes, tailored biological catalysts, integration of physico-chemical and biological processes, analysis/optimization of the microbial community structure, engineering practice and case studies of different bioprocesses for air pollution control.
The Guest Editors would like to thank the authors and reviewers for their special efforts to make this issue a valuable reference for all those interested in the state-of-the-art of biochemical process for air pollution control.
We would also like to thank the Journal Manager Pallavi Das, Publishing Content Specialist Yixuan Zhao and Special Issues Editor Dr. Derek Muir, for their valuable assistance in helping to prepare this Special Issue.
