大拇指——thumb
英語裡稱呼大拇指為thumb。在咱們的文化裡，像是豎起大拇指，就是表示「讚賞」，英語裡就叫做：thumn up
There's a hole in the thumb. 手套的拇指上有個窟窿。
食指——forefinger
食指又叫做index finger。前綴fore-表示「位置靠前的」(placed at the front)。從功用上看，這個手指伸出時有標示或指向的作用 因而借用到index 。在一些英語工具書中，我們會見到這樣的表示「參見」(index)含義的手型符號。
記憶方法：
fore 前面；預先 + finger 手指 → 用來指向前面的手指 → 食指
He took the pen between his thumb and forefinger. 他用拇指和食指捏著筆。
中指——middle finger
此指居中，名正言順，和漢語說法也是很一致哦。
注意：豎中指還附帶著蔑視，侮辱別人的意思。
He wears a ring on his middle finger. 他中指上戴著指環。
無名指——ring finger
從世界各地的婚俗習慣來說，結婚戒指(wedding ring)戴在這一手指(通常指左手)之上，表示已婚，所以無名指就成了ring finger了。
I know the empty ring finger. 我了解那手指上沒有戒指。
小指——little finger
小指果然是很「小」。在美國和蘇格蘭，人們又賦予它一個愛稱，管它叫 pinkie(pinky)，因為後綴-ie(-y)有「小巧可愛」的意思。
My little pinkie got caught in the door. 我的小指被門夾到。
