Gaea, also called Ge, Greek personification of the Earth as a goddess.

蓋婭，又稱蓋亞，希臘神話中地球女神的化身。

Mother and wife of Uranus (Heaven), she was mother of the other Titans, the

Gigantes, the Erinyes, and the Cyclopes (see giant; Furies; Cyclops).

她是Uranus（天堂）的母親和妻子，她是其他泰坦們，巨人們，厄裡倪厄斯和庫克羅普斯的母親。

Gaea may have been originally a mother goddess worshipped in Greece before the Hellenes introduced the cult of Zeus.

蓋亞在希臘引入宙斯崇拜之前，可能最初是希臘崇拜的母女神。

Less widely worshipped in historic times, Gaea was described as the giver of dreams and the nourisher of plants and young children.

在歷史時期，蓋亞被認為是夢想的給予者，是植物和幼童的滋養者。

Gaea is often shown as being present at the birth of Zeus, but in some legends she is his enemy because she is the mother of the giants and of the 100-headed monster Typhon.

由蓋婭衍生的詞

由於Gaea大地女神的身份，是萬物之母，包含兩大詞根：土地（geo-）與遺傳（gen-）；土地詞根（geo-）向下發展得到了「研究土地的學說「——地質學（geology）與」畫土地的方法「——地理學（geography）隨後又從地質學衍生出學科詞根（-ology）,進而分支出上述的眾多學科：生物學（biology）,經濟學（ecology）,思想學(ideology),神學（theology），心理學（psychology）,生理學（physiology）遺產詞根向下則演化出基因（gene），動植物屬（genera）,產生（generate）,代（generation），天才（genius）,性別（gender）,聰明伶俐的(ingenious),勤奮的（ingenuous）出現神詞根（the-），繼續向下派生，無神論（atheism），無神論者（atheist）英語中也有「通假「的概念，中文通假一般是字形相似，英文「通假」則是由於讀音相似。所以，時間一長，神詞根（the-）就演化為（de-），意思相近，都是神詞根，進而出現神化（deify）,和神（deity）
