小知識 - RSVP 和 canapés
在正式邀請函裡，我們常會看到 RSVP 這個短語，其意思是「請回復」。這其實是法語Répondez s'il vous plait 的縮寫。現在大家已形成習慣，收到邀請函後，不論是否能赴宴，都會回復邀請人，方便主人準備酒水和食品。
現在在英國，很多正式聚會都以酒會的方式舉辦。酒會上會提供葡萄酒、水和橙汁類的飲料，同時也會提供非常精緻的小點心canapés，可惜就是量很少，一口一個。一般由服務員端著盤子送到客人面前享用，錯過了就沒了。
如何回復邀請？
你可以根據請帖的要求，比如打電話，簡訊或者郵件回復。回復時可以說：
Thank you very much for the invitation. We would be delighted to join you at the party. 謝謝邀請，我們非常高興能來參加聚會。
We are looking forward to see you at the party. 我們期待著在聚會上與你見面。
非正式邀請：（下班了，出去喝一杯！）
Ben:I』ve just finished my project.
我剛做完我的項目。
Ying:Well done. How did it go?
恭喜。做得怎麼樣？
Ben:I think it went pretty well, I hope to hear some feedback next Monday.
我覺得還不錯，希望下周一能得到一些反饋。
Ying:I’m done for the day as well. Would you like to go for a drink?
我今天的工作也完了。怎麼樣，出去喝一杯吧？
Ben:Oh yes. I』d love one. The White Horse around the corner?
好啊。我就是這麼想的。去旁邊的白馬酒吧？
Ying:Excellent suggestion. Give me five minutes.
好建議。給我五分鐘準備一下。
Ben:Sure。
沒問題。
「簡單的邀請」常用口語表達：
Would you like to come for a drink? 你想去喝一杯嗎？
Would you be interested in going to the art exhibition? 你想去看一下那個畫展嗎？
Do you fancy a drink at the bar? 你想去酒吧裡喝一杯嗎？（Fancy 是非常口語化的表達。）
Do you feel like going to the launch party tonight? 你想去參加今晚的發布盛會嗎？
Are you up for a musical next week? 下周去看音樂劇，你覺得怎樣？（Are you up for 也是非常口語化的表達。）
在英語裡問別人想不想做什麼事情，通常用would you like to… 這個說法比 do you want to 要更禮貌含蓄一些，讓人聽著感覺會舒服好多。
