Introduction to Chinese culture: Customs and Traditions of China
Monday 12 September, 6pm to 7pm

This introductory class is best for people who are interested in Chinese culture, learning Chinese or visiting China in the future. The class will include an introduction to Chinese traditions and customs, as well as some daily phrases and simple characters in Chinese. (Free)

An introduction to Mandarin absolute beginners, run by the Waikato Mandarin Corner. The Chinese Language teachers from Hamilton Chinese Learning Centre and the volunteers from the Waikato Mandarin Corner will teach you some of the basics of Mandarin, such as the four tones in Mandarin, and some basic phrases. As part of Chinese Language Week, the Hamilton Chinese Students Association will be holding a Chinese film night at Hoyts cinemas. The movie will be a new release, so we can (almost) guarantee you won't have seen it! There will be English subtitles.
All are welcome, so bring along friends and family. As tickets will be limited, make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

The Inaugural Waikato School Students Mid-Autumn Poster Contest

Prize-giving Ceremony: 17 September at Hillcrest Chapel (120 Masters Ave)
The contest is intended to encourage student interest and enthusiasm in learning Chinese and to enhance their understanding of the Chinese language and culture. It is open to primary, intermediate and secondary school students in the Waikato. Based on the theme of this contest, express their understanding and connections with the Mid-Autumn Festival, in the form of a Poster.
