2020年是新冠肺炎肆虐的一年。2019年底，湖北省武漢市報告不明原因肺炎病例。
The year 2020 will go down in history as the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) year. Wuhan, Hubei Province in central China, first reported novel coronavirus cases.
1月23日，離漢通道關閉。全國各地啟動了最高級別的公共衛生應急響應，並調集資源支援武漢和湖北省其它地區。42600名醫務人員馳援武漢。
Outbound traffic from Wuhan was shut down on January 23, and top-level public health emergency responses were activated across the country. Resources, including 42,600 medical workers, were mobilized from other areas to assist Hubei.
中國用3個多月取得了武漢保衛戰、湖北保衛戰的決定性勝利。4月8日起，武漢市解除為期76天的離漢離鄂通道管控措施。4月26日，武漢市所有新冠肺炎住院病例清零。全國社會經濟活動穩步恢復。
In about three months, a decisive victory had been secured and on April 8, Wuhan lifted its outbound traffic restrictions after 76 days. On April 26, the last hospitalized COVID-19 patient in the city was discharged. Social and economic activities across the country steadily resumed.
截至12月28日，中國大陸地區累計報告確診病例87003例。其中，累計治癒出院病例82021例，累計死亡病例4634例。
As of December 28, according to National Health Commission data, 87,003 confirmed cases had been reported on the Chinese mainland. In all, 82,021 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, and 4,634 persons died.
