The Michelin Guide officially announced the Taipei & Taichung Michelin Guide 2020 at the end of August. The list comes out after the outbreak has been well-controlled in Taiwan, providing a go-to guide for gourmands and reigniting a passion for culinary exploration.How food commentators visited the restaurant during the outbreak was not specified by the Michelin Guide. However, Gwendal Poullennec, Michelin Guide’s International Director explained at the digital version of the press conference, the participation of more local judges ensured that each starred restaurant was visited more than once. As social distancing continues to be the new normal, the Michelin Guide and other global food and travel destination guides will face special challenges in their review process for some time. The Michelin guide for 2020 has awarded Michelin Stars to 26 restaurants in Taipei and 4 in Taichung. This year marks the third edition of the Taipei Guide and the first edition of the Taichung Guide. "The judges were impressed by the exciting and vibrant dining scene in Taichung," Gwendal Poullennec said at the press conference. JL Studio, Fleur de Sel, Forchetta,Oretachi No Nikuya in Taichung earned star ratings, among which, JL Studio helmed by Singaporean chef Jimmy Lim, received 2 stars. His cuisine is a blend of Taiwan's local ingredients, French cuisine and Southeast Asian food culture, with signature dishes including Hainanese chicken rice, satay and chili crab.JL Studio helmed by Singaporean chef Jimmy Lim received a two-star rating in the first edition of the Taichung Guide
