我們接電話時都會習慣性問一句「你是誰啊?」,與之對應的英文就是「Who are you?"
但如果在打英文電話的時候這麼問,其實是很粗魯的。
在電話裡詢問對方是誰,比較禮貌且口語化的表達有:
Who's this? / Who is it?
你是誰?
例如:
A: Hey, is Sasha there?
A:嗨,請問Sasha在嗎?
B: Yeah. Who's this?
B:她在,你是誰呀?
另外,如果是在公司或者企業負責前臺工作,就需要官方且正式的表達。
接電話時必須先報公司名稱和你的姓名,確定對方不是找你後再詢問對方是誰。
例如:
A: Good afternoon, this is Rachel. How may I help you?
A: 下午好,我是Rachel。有什麼可以幫到你嗎?
B: Hello. Is Mr. Green available?
B: 你好,請問Green先生有空嗎?
A: May I ask Who's callling?
A: 我能問一下是哪位嗎?

指名要找某人時:
非正式用法,打給比較熟的人可以這樣用:
Is B there?
B, please.
下面這兩句則是正式用法,尤其第一句通常用在公事往來的通話中。
May/ Could/ Can I speak to B, please?
I'd like to speak to B, please.
請稍等
非正式用法,可用在與熟人的對話:
Just a second.
Hang on.
正式用法:
Hold the line please.
Could you hold on, please?
Just a moment, please.
One moment, please.
另外,以下兩句都可接在上面的句子後,表示「幫你找看看B 」。
I'll get him/ her.
I'll see if B is in.
忙碌中
當你接聽電話後,對方要找的人「不方便接聽」時,可以用以下這幾句話表示。
B is not here right now.
B is busy/ occupied/ tied up now.
I'm afraid B can't take this call at this time.
I'm afraid B isn't available at this time.
I'm afraid B can't come to the phone at this time.
打錯時
當對方打錯時,你可以說:
I'm afraid you've got the wrong number.
Sorry. I think you've dialed the wrong number.
如果是你打錯電話時則可以這樣說:
Oh, I'm sorry. I have the wrong number.
I must have the wrong number.
I guess I have the wrong number.
遇到對方不在時
麻煩別人晚點回撥時:
Could you call back later?
Could you call back in a few minutes?
Could you call back in a little while?
想要留言/ 詢問是否需要幫忙留言時:
請求對方幫忙留言:
Can I leave a message?
Could you give him/ her a message?
Could you tell him/ her that I called?
主動詢問對方是否需要留言:
Would you like to leave a message?
Can I take a message?
聽不清楚、對方太小聲時:
I'm afraid I can't hear you.
不好意思,我聽不太清楚。
I think we have a bad connection.
我覺得信號有點差。
Sorry. I didn't catch that.
不好意思,我沒聽到。
Could you speak up a little, please?
可以請你再大聲一點嗎?
麻煩對方再說一次時:
Pardon me?
