Mike
My students have really hit the books hard this past week!(過去的一周我的學生真的很努力地 hit the books!)
That's great! I bet they will do well on their test next week.(太棒了!
Hit the books? Won't the books get broken and damaged if they hit them too hard?(Hit the books?
Ha ha, no Victor! The phrase「hit the books」 means that they study very hard!(不會的,小小常!「hit the books」這個短語表示他們學習非常用功!)
I see! I need to hit the books, too!(我明白了!
Good boy!(真是個好孩子!)
—Won't you come with me? Come on.
—I'm afraid I can't. I need to hit the books or else I'll get an F again.
—Wow, Lucy got the offer from Yale University!
—It didn't surprise me at all. She's a really good student. She has hit the books every night since the course started.
—You look nervous. What happened, Robert?
—I am a little bit stressed out. All I think about is passing this course, so I'd better hit the books all weekend.
☞hit the + 地點
hit the bar (去酒吧)
hit the pool (去遊泳池)
hit the restaurant (去餐廳)
Follow this footpath and you'll eventually hit the road.
☞hit the +物體
hit the sack (睡覺),sack本意是麻袋,也有床的意思,所以hit the sack表示「上床睡覺」。
Louis was so tired that he hit the sack soon after supper.
hit the ceiling (發怒),ceiling表示天花板,hit the ceiling也很形象,表達怒氣都要衝破天花板。
The boss hit the ceiling the other day when he found the mistake in the contract, but he didn't realize then that I was responsible.
Let's hit the books!
