這個表達來源於諺語「There is a black sheep in every flock.」，大意是指到處都有害群之馬。
「black sheep」 為什麼會成為「害群之馬」呢？一種說法是黑綿羊的毛不值錢；還有一種說法是，它的黑顏色讓其它的羊害怕。因此，人們通常認為黑綿羊是給羊群添麻煩的。
現在「black sheep」通常指一個群體裡給大家添麻煩或是搞破壞的人。
例句：
Peter is the black sheep of the class.
皮特是班上的害群之馬。
My uncle often says he was the black sheep of the family.
我舅舅常說他曾是家裡的敗家子。
說了「black sheep」，我們再來說說「black dog」。黑狗？不是，但與黑色的狗狗還是有關係的。
在大家的印象中，黑狗是不是皺著眉，一副不開心的樣子，英語俚語中「black dog」就是指憂鬱，沮喪，不開心。

例句：
The black dog is over Jim now.
吉姆現在意氣消沉。
The girl can't find her dog.She is under the black dog.
那個女孩找不到她的小狗，神情沮喪。
我們常掛在嘴邊的「青一塊紫一塊」英文怎麼說，blue and purple？NO！常用表達是「black and blue」。
例句：
I fell down the stairs and was all black and blue.
我從樓梯上摔下來，摔得青一塊紫一塊的。
The poor boy was beaten black and blue all over .
那個可憐的男孩被打的遍體鱗傷。
那麼「眼睛被打得烏青」又怎麼表達呢？很簡單，就是a black eye；這可和漢語裡的「青眼有加」意思完全不同哦。
例句：
He gave me a black eye.
他把我眼睛打青了。
「black and white」 除了表示顏色「黑白相間」、「黑與白」外，還有什麼更深層的意思？口說無憑，請拿來白紙和黑筆，白紙黑字寫下來！
