hold the bag ：直譯為「拿著袋子」，把它放在特定的語境當中去理解，就不是原來「抓包」的意思了，而是兩手空空，代人受過。
該短語源自美國。從前小孩經常捉弄新搬來的鄰居小朋友之一，就是帶他去森林深處去抓鳥，並告訴他一手舉著燈籠，一手捧著敞開的麻袋，鳥兒見了光會自動跑到袋子中。然後自己藉機溜掉，只留下鄰居的小朋友獨自乾等。後來hold the bag被用來表示「一無所得、背黑鍋」。
carry the can 背黑鍋
「carry the can」，這個英式俚語原本指「幫士兵們抗啤酒的人」，can有「易拉罐」的意思，指裝啤酒的容器，後延伸出「代人受過」的含義。
e.g. I don't see why I should carry the can for his mistakes as well as my own. 我不明白為什麼要我同時為我和為他的錯誤承擔責任。
